NEW: Elon Musk sent a Signal message ordering his staff to aid in the Twitter Files: "please give Bari [Weiss] full access to everything at Twitter. No limits at all.”

That triggered a frenzy inside Twitter, which was under a decade-old FTC order. IT staff refused to onboard Weiss, worried Twitter would be breaking the law.

Days later, two executives were fired.

"These guys did amazing damage,” a former employee told me of the Musk subordinates running the company.

Twitter brings Elon Musk’s genius reputation crashing down to earth

Musk went down conspiracy rabbit holes and sank Tesla's stock with his behavior. And he was confronted with a chorus of boos in the cradle of the tech industry.

@faizsays

almost since day one, people have been saying twitter will collapse, etc etc

yet when I log on, I see zero change
and the % of twitter users who have left for say #mastodon is a tiny %, and probably mostly lefty types who advertisers don't want any way

I'm not saying I know much, but **so far** for 90% of users, who care about Rihanna or futball, twitter is exactly the same, no ???

@Hello57 @faizsays To many passengers on the Titanic, things were "exactly the same" up until the point when they weren't.

Nobody is saying that Twitter would collapse within days of Musk's takeover. But many of us with experience in the field do not see a profitable path forward for Twitter if it operates with a skeleton crew while disregarding basic local laws and regulations around the world.

@hu_logic @faizsays
on my other computer, I think I have screenshots of people saying it will break in weeks if not days
ok, one or two people but still it is twitter

@Hello57 @faizsays Many features have been turned off, trends/suggestions are no longer curated, Spaces went down, numerous in-app issues, 2FA has been down for ages - and these are just the customer-facing issues. God knows what's blowing up behind the scenes w/o anyone noticing.

And don't get me started on Twitter's legal and regulatory risk exposure.

@hu_logic @faizsays
I have no reason to disagree with you
all I can say, I log in once a day, and it is , for me, just me, exactly the same
