@Deglassco Thank you so much for posting this, I never ever miss a chance to watch this clip! I noticed something new (to me) - that the Nicholas brothers' stage makeup and that of Cab Callaway is likely lighter than their natural skin (and that the musicians probably wore no makeup) . Could be wrong, just an observation -
@LeslieVS1965 I think you are right. If you look at images across the spectrum of time of these artists, you can see that they were lighter in some photos more than others. Colorism was preeminent during those days and also, many of the performers, entertained primarily white guests, who put premiums on people who emulated them (hence the black men’s straightened hair).
