Trump, Bankman-Fried, and Musk are the monsters of American capitalism — as much products of this public-be-damned era as they are contributors to it.

For them, there is no morality in business or economics. The winnings go to the most ruthless. https://robertreich.substack.com/p/the-frankenstein-monsters-of-modern

The monsters of American capitalism

Trump, Bankman-Fried's, and Musk

Robert Reich
@rbreich Where do Gates, Soros, and Buffett land?
@rbreich and yet you’re referencing Musk’s site? Even after he’s spread conspiracies, smeared good people and still is banning many well known (and not) journalists. Not to mention, demonizing trans people etc. you still use his platform?

@rbreich There are two types of competitors.

The honorable ones gain satisfaction from beating their previous best.

The dishonorable ones can only gain satisfaction from beating others and making sure everyone else knows it.

@rbreich yes exactly! I call it killer capitalism, & we’re experiencing it first hand with an unreasonable rent rise of 20% for a house in poor condition! The lessor doesn’t give a damn as he thinks he can get more rent, so to hell with the family of 4, kids in grade 3 etc.. it’s just devoid of humanity.
@rbreich And don’t forget their attorneys who sold their souls and brains to forget their first year law school ethics classes. Attorneys and incorrigible parents have created “Frankenstein Monsters.”
@rbreich
You forgot to include Jeff Bezos, Peter Thiel, Larry Ellison, etc.
@rbreich Don't forget Mitt Romney! How many businesses did his firm buy to bankrupt?
Merry Christmas! We’re All Being Murdered by Capitalism.

Here at The Intercept, we are committed to ruining the holidays.

@rbreich What do we expect when business schools have been teaching "shareholder capitalism" (aka "public be damned") since the 80s?
@rbreich
But of course, in a system with no limit on how much one can acquire, those with a void at their center would be driven to accumulate the most.
