About to get onto this big metal bird to fly to London.
Briefly got a closer look just before getting on board.

8 hour flight done, just the 14 hour one to go.

I was happy to discover that the Qantas A380s have been reupholstered since we last flew on one, the interiors were really worn out before. Less happy to discover that the in-flight entertainment systems are still original. The horribly unresponsive UI and limited selection of content are one thing, but the main problem is how unreliable systems of this age are. The cabin crew rebooted the system 3 times during our flight with only the first (15 minute long!) reset having a noticeable effect, which did change the entertainment system from totally nonfunctional to mostly working but killed the at-seat power for the remainder of the flight in the process.

@spacelizard which leaves the question of why do you still fly Qantas
@spacelizard my favourite part is when everyone chants "sky birds, sky bird!" to call the gods favors on take-off.
