hey anyone from #librarytwitter now on mastodon… if you were a "tech services" team that deals mostly with metadata, taxonomy, automation/APIs/tech stuff, resource descrip/cataloging, what would you name them? add other ideas in responses! #libraryland #libraries #libraryrebranding

Just realized…. “Knowledge Technology Services” is impossible to say.

@Etegamist

But in the same manner as the previous, "Knowlogy Services" sounds coolissimo 😁

@julieninthesky omg I almost spit out my coffee. We’ll be knowologists.

@Etegamist

Yay... And now's the time to advertise 😁 👍

@Etegamist Not everyone understands “metadata,” “discovery” (in library parlance), and “technology” can mean nearly anything. Now, “access” is good and readily understood; so is (dare I say it) “cataloguing” 😊
@Etegamist it's Technology and Metadata Services at my library.
@Etegamist @hugh My team does exactly this and we are called ‘Metadata and Discovery’ but I quite like the vibes of ‘Metadata, Taxonomy and Technology’
@lissertations @hugh thanks! It’s got buzzwords that will resonate at my org, a lib in a Govt agency where the major “cataloging” we do is really non-marc data metadata. I’m not that keen on just throwing “tech” in there but seeing strategic reasons to do so.

@Etegamist
Seeing this kind of thing makes me glad I'm just a book slinger and don't have to worry about this.

Cataloging at Admin can do that. XP

@Etegamist I am head of a combined metadata, acquisitions, and collection development team that is called Collections & Content… meaningless to the uninitiated…

Despite the buzzwordy feel of it I actually like Metadata, Taxonomy, and Technology.

@Etegamist

M.A.D. is the obvious choice 😄

A little less obvious would be "Metalogy Services" 🤔

@Etegamist We called our Team "Taxonomy and Search" fwiw
