It's important to remember that the partisan makeup of the #January6thCommittee was entirely decided by republicans. They were offered to be equal partners with the same format of the 9/11 committee, but they declined.

They chose not to participate (other than a few that defied their party) because they WANTED it to be viewed as partisan. They knew what Trump did was unlawful and they wanted to provide political cover for him anyway.

@KeithHill This has always been partisan and they not only knew what he did was illegal, they helped. The thing that I’m still stunned by? They said NOTHING until they had to. Their testimony comes 1 and almost 2 years after the event took place. We’ve discovered things via books and testimony, they did NOTHING to try to stop this. NOTHING. They’re culpable and equally at fault here. McCarthy deserves to be driven from Congress, not given the Speaker’s gavel.
