In search of a midi keyboard that is:
- At least 61 keys
- Good hand feel with semi or fully weighted keys
- Compact design

I am currently looking at the Alesis Q88, Korg MicroKEY, Arturia KeyLab.

If you have opinions about the ones listed above or have a different model to suggest, I'd be happy to hear!

@fernacen what are you using it for? For me as an ableton user Potis and fader matter a lot. Native Instruments gives you a lot of free sounds with komplete control A61. But weighted keys would triple the price here. Arturia got some nice sounds too but no weighted keys I think.

@karmakind I am just looking for something I can play piano music with, as well as something that allows me to interact with VSTs and hardware synths that do not have keyboards. I used Studio One, but now starting to mess with Bitwig.

I had an Akai MPK in the past and I hardly ever used anything outside the pitch and mod wheels. Drum pads, faders and knobs are nice but I seldom used them honestly.

@fernacen ok, then maybe a stage piano could be even more useful for you? More focus on weighted keys and dynamics than Potis and stuff.. And you can combine it with your akai if you want to tweak sounds etc.

When I started to play with a low budget midi keyboard I didn't really use the faders as well. But since I got the ableton push which is much more user friendly (pre mapped, display etc.), my workflow became much more fun. It's great to tweak sounds without looking at the screen.

@karmakind Definitely something worth considering. Down the road I do plan to get something like a push or launchpad.
