@geordie The positioning is lucky. There's a cupboard with a powerpoint on the other side of that wall, so a couple of holes and wire routing, and it's got constant charge 😁
@jimmybish@geordie Just be careful to monitor the battery (or remove it). When constantly charged, they'll eventually fail. I had one where the battery puffed up and popped the case off after being on the wall, plugged in, for a year.
@JoeJulian@jimmybish@geordie Or just an automation. Charge when battery level <15%, stop charging at 85%. Also, switch off the screen when noone around to save energy.
@thirstyhaegar@JoeJulian@geordie Fully Kiosk Browser handles the sleep and wake based on camera-detected motion, but the automation to help preserve battery longevity may be on the cards 🤔
@jimmybish@JoeJulian@geordie Yes, it does. But I used that camera functionality years ago on a tablet and it was sucking energy like crazy. The G7 tablet was baking hot. Maybe newer tablets are better. Maybe use a simple motion sensor instead and only use camera when that goes off.
@JoeJulian@geordie@thirstyhaegar hmm, thanks for the heads-up. I’ll keep an eye on it. I have a few Aqara motion sensors yet to be installed, so very possible to overcome
