National Library’s treasure Trove under threat from budget cuts

The digital platform beloved by historians and researchers across the country could cease to operate if new federal funding is not found.

Libraries are inherently radical, social justice mechanisms staffed by humanist activists. It’s never an accident when they and the services they provide are under threat: “The National Library of Australia, the country’s repository of the published word, is facing a $13 million or 21 per cent cut to its operations budget from July 2023 when federal budget support for Trove ends.”
