a pox, how delightful, a pox@xaphania Love that distro. I set it up for a friend, but he's having some troubles with Steam games that I don't have on my system. Do you know if there's anything missing from the Steam install on antiX that needs to be obtained?
@poxeclipse oh i've been using antix for about 3 days and i don't know shit about shit when it comes to linux stuff in general, i usually just fuck around till either things work or i get frustrated and give up. but the antix forums seem active and pretty good, so you could ask over there!
@xaphania That's cool. I'll check out the forums. It's really nice to find this OS that hails Antifash stuff. Really like that. Need more of that in the world these days. Can't afford to be neutral
Out of curiosity what is #antix's niche?
Also, I personally use #xmonad, because thats what I've always used. Why #herbsluftwm? I've never really used manual #tilers
@drnfc it's main niche for me is that it doesn't run like shit on this terrible decade old netbook that i saved from landfill.
basically it's a very nice stripped down OS that includes enough stuff out of the box to make it usable by a dingus like me, but avoids bloat. also it can provide a good live environment with persistence so you can throw it on a usb and basically boot it on anything. i've not really looked into that though.
as for tiling window managers, i just think they're neat (sometimes). i use sway on my RPi, but herbsluftwm is what was included in antiX so I went with it, it works well enough and configuration isn't a nightmare. I'm mainly just using terminals on this machine, so a window manager that gets out the way is a good thing

Makes sense, like I said, I just haven't checked out #herbsluftwm, because I prefer WM's that are configured with code, because that makes them easier to extend because I don't have to fork the project or try to write a patch.
