Oh. my. god.

Madison Square Garden used facial recognition to identify and stop a mom from attending a Christmas show with her kid because she's an attorney at a firm who is engaged in litigation with them.

This is why it's not enough to just ban government and law enforcement use of #facialrecognition. There are so many ways private companies and even individuals can abuse #biometric #surveillance tech.

#BanFacialRecognition entirely. Yesterday.

@evangreer I understand the lack of reasoning with tech bros and how they put their stuff all over the place like a 3 year old.

Wear a mask, if possible wear sunglasses too
Wear a hat, a beanie, something to cover your hair
A Balaklava would take care of the above, but not always a reasonable wear.

Besides, we're still in a pandemic, wearing a mask should be a normal thing.

Give yourself a layer of viral protection and a layer of privacy protection at the same time

@littletranspunk @evangreer wearing a mask is only a sticking plaster for a much bigger problem. Facial recognition is the tip of the iceberg: gait analysis can recognise people from their walk (even if you fake a limp) and smart beacons can recognise your devices. The broader principle is at stake here. We can't escape it, we have to regulate or ban it.
@Shadician @evangreer I understand that. I'm just thinking of reducing the capability of systems widely out there already
