So 40 years later, the first computer I owned, the C64 has a new operating system https://c64os.com

@JamesBaker "And it enjoys an active userbase"... Does it really? Well I guess it does, since someone is selling a new OS for it. But what does this userbase actually use it for? And why?
@forteller I imagine it was like when I got a Raspberry Pi - “I’ll do loads of cool projects and stuff”. Then it sat in a drawer making me feel guilty. I have the same yearning to have a C64. Only to load it up and realise there is zero use and the games are not as good as I remembered as a kid.
@JamesBaker @forteller i spent 15 minutes on the website to find out if it has TCP/ip-support and a browser. Has it?
@jedes_jahr_ein_neues_protokoll @forteller I don’t know sorry, I haven’t got one. Just thought it was amusing that a 40 year old computer still has people developing new OS for it.
@JamesBaker
There's probably some random bit of the NHS which is running on a C64 so this will be helpful to them at least.
