BIG NEWS: New York Mayor #EricAdams has announced a “reimagining of Fifth Avenue — from Bryant Park at 42nd Street to Central Park at 59th Street — as a safer, less congested, pedestrian-centered boulevard that also prioritizes cyclists, mass transit, & the public realm.”

This is one I’ll be watching!

@BrentToderian Do you have a sense of where the motivation / follow-through is coming from within the Eric Adams administration re: urbanist policies? I have difficulty believing that a cop who doesn't live in NYC cares about livable streets, but his admin does seem to be making significant progress.

@skyfaller @BrentToderian Man I'm still not sure exactly how cynical to be on here vs the old site, there are *so many* dark jokes popping into my head immediately.

At the very least I suspect this will be used as some sort of greenwashing or pro-displacement scheme, we'll see.
