I've been watching #Degrassi:TNG on HBO Max and I haven't seen this episode since it originally aired but they portrayed autism very accurately with Connor.

I'm talking exclusively about "Causing a Commotion" right now. As this is the episode that revealed Connor had it. But I stopped watching the show around this time so I don't know how it unfolded afterward.

But I will warn they do use the term Aspergers. But this was made before the DSM V so it was still a diagnosis at the time. But unlike Girl Meets World where characters react like their friend has some terminal illness, here Clare steps to fight for Connor.

The principal wanted to expel him due to a meltdown he had and Clare ended up exposing him calling him a "freak."

Principal gets sent to "sensitivity training" by the school board. And Connor gets the accommodations he was being denied.

But I give Degrassi point first for having a black person being autistic, as they are underrepresented. He is shown to have sensory issues as he wanted to use a desk lamp at school as the lights at school bothered him. He had several sets of the same outfit. And earlier episode showed he had issues breaking routine.
