If your #parents constantly leave you feeling #unacknowledged, #worthless, and filled with #shame, I'd like to say to you (and myself) that this is not normal. This shouldn't be so. And while I don't have any perfect solution for dealing/coping with this, I do know this:

There are other people in the world: who see us for who we really are, and even some who love us because of that; who care for us, and want us to flourish and succeed; who have our backs.

Don't give up 💜

@hider I had a "intense" relationship with my mother, as she was stressed beyond belief, and always snapped at us 2 kids... now fast forward 10 or so yrs to where I worked for an attorney, who NEVER snapped at me, even when I f-d up. I was brought to tears when I realized this. People CAN be caring and nice.
@mrpieceofwork Someone once told me that sometimes, for some people, the experience of love can cause the most pain, because one then realizes how much one's missed it. That was a significant moment for me, and it's stayed with me. So I'm very happy you wanted to share this, even though I'm sorry to hear about your relationship with your mother. Thank you 🍎
