This is interesting. I always knew that low-carb high-fat (saturated and monounsaturated!) diets were great for weight loss and diabetes control, but only recently realized that they don't seem to work long-term, at least for me or anyone I know. What's the long-term diet to keep the weight off? 🤔

@SamHulick I used a low-carb/high-fat diet to lose about 80 lbs between 2012 and 2013 and have kept it off (within 5-7 lbs) for 9 years now. I generally eat whatever I want now, but I do a 16:8 fast every day and I keep glucose under control by eating fiber before carbs, walking after meals, doing kettlebell swings after a big dessert, etc.

A couple of times a year I do the Prolon Fast Mimicking Diet as well, to kill precancerous cells. A good side effect Is I usually drop a few lbs then too.

@rfelix Oh man.. for some reason, eating only from noon to 8pm sounds tough! 😅 Still, I might try it and see if I notice any benefits. Thanks!
