@protecttruth we need to learn from the huge mistake Ford made by pardoning Nixon. Back in the 70s I remember the *adults* saying “Nixon was pardoned so the nation could heal and move on”. Even as a kid I knew that was bullshit. And then sure enough, decades later remnants of Nixon (Stone, Manafort) successfully installed the most corrupt president ever, with aid from hostile foreign enemies and the transnational crime syndicate.
@DefiantJZ @protecttruth same mistake as all the pre-Civil War slave/free state compromises, the post-Civil War “reconstruction” (e.g. naming military bases after Confederate officers), even the madness of counting Blacks as 3/5s of a human, but not allowing them to vote, so that slave states could have more votes in the House and Electoral College. All fruit of the poisoned tree (slavery).
@protecttruth @steveinashland heck Virginia still has a modern variation on 3/5. I’m pretty sure VA passed legislation to count prison inmates in the census as residents the of rural counties where the prisons are instead of their last address before incarceration. So prison inmates have NO VOTE, but are being counted in the population of rural (red) counties as opposed to being counted in the population of urban area (where proportionately more are from).
@DefiantJZ @protecttruth Those elected to higher office should be held to a higher standard, not a lesser one. But, by any standard, Trump and his ilk need to be indicted.
