Early stage startups are becoming too comfortable with saying the quiet toxic parts out loudly because they think people in a down market will put up with anything for a paycheck.

Don't let them normalize 6-day work weeks or sleeping in the office.

@vicvijayakumar I rode a startup to the bitter end in 2002 (great product but a difficult time in tech - another story) and I can tell you it's not worth it. VCs push most startups to failure hoping that 1 in 10 knock it out of the park. Your odds as an employee are not good. Put in a few extra hours when needed but keep your sanity.
@willigula Yeah, same- I worked at the same place for 14 years and burned the heck out. I have a healthy relationship with my 9-5 now. In fact I'm off the rest of the year. It's...amazing.
@vicvijayakumar @willigula I busted my ass at a startup in my early 20s. We got acquired in 2003 in a deal that wiped out all employee equity completely. All we had to show for those 60+ hour weeks was continued employment
@saw @willigula 💔 I need a dislike button.
