Awfully funny watching how members of different generations approach the Mastodon tools.

Boomers: Barely here. They're on Facebook

GenX / Older Millenials: OH yeah we remember this. *Sets up account and moves on, unflapped*

Young millenials / GenZ: OMGWTFBBQ IS THIS? I HAVE TO MAKE DECISIONS? I DON'T LIKE THIS. TELL ME WHAT TO DO, DADDY.

PS: Since there are a whole lot of you who somehow seem to think I'm dissing whomever:

THIS IS A JOKE. I AM SORRY YOU ARE A HUMORLESS FUCK.

@JenWojcik Take that back. We Boomers are here, we're more used to tech change than all of you. we've adopted and abandoned more apps and platforms than you could imagine. My 1st intro to computers featured punch cards, I quit that, but still ended up running a Retailer Top 100 website 10 years later.And I know more Dos shortcuts than you.

@MHowell

Should we get you a punch card interface for this application so you can feel superior?

@JenWojcik Hell no, I never learned punch cards. I wasn't trying to appear superior--apologies if that's how it came off. I was just saying those of us who learned (not everyone), did it when the environment was very volatile and change was rapid We became used to adapting.
@MHowell I have experience with manual typewriters, manual transmissions, black & white TVs, an outhouse, and the past 63 years of breakneck changes, and am still functioning. I appreciate your reaction. I nibbled the bait too.
@synnomie I was told—in a very shrill tone—that I was a karen and unworthy of comment. I can't stand the generational crap. My kid can run circles around me on his phone and I can run circles around him in Word/Excel/site maintenance. It's what you needed to learn.
@MHowell Yes, and I value quality over speed. Am also an Excel/Word master and can run circles around a fast texter who leaps before thinking without regard for what and how they communicate. We’re all threads in the tapestry that hold it together! Beautiful fractals. Thank you for your thoughts.
@synnomie We should probably all be nicer.
