CW: male #incel bullshit

Boys have unrequited love - attractive girls who ignore them.
Girls have unrequited love too - attractive boys who ignore them.

The girls think "if only I was different he would like me" (wrong).
They meet other girls online where they talk about diets and other bullshit.

The boys think "if only the world was different she would like me" (also wrong).
They meet other boys online where they talk about guns, violent fantasies, and other bullshit. 😾

The unpopular girls with crushes on unattainable boys understand that no one is obligated to love, or even like them.
They internalized the message (too well), and try to change themselves hoping to be noticed (eating disorders, etc.)

The unpopular boys with crushes on unattainable girls understand that no one loves, or even likes them (whether true or not).
They externalize the message, and think violence will bring them what they are looking for.

We need to teach girls that there's no reason to harm themselves because of attraction.

We NEED to teach boys that there's no reason to harm others because of attraction.

When a heartbroken 14-year old is given the skills to navigate a break-up in a healthy way, they're also equipped to handle loss in their adult life as well (job-loss, divorce, etc.).

Parents need to build up their kids to understand themselves and others better, and to build healthy relationships (as well as responses to rejection).

But SOCIETY also needs to step up! Family should provide positive advice, and teachers should offer support.

But most importantly, MEDIA needs to create better stories!
Stop giving us stories where the girl takes off her glasses to get the boy, or the boy stalks the girl until she gives in!
It's a promotion of VIOLENCE!!!
