ggadwa@sharearea I have a small thing for romance comics; I like the deck-stacking of these comics, where one person is 100% obviously a cad and the other is the best, greatest person to ever walk the Earth and yet somebody can't decide between them!
Agreed! I used to poo-poo this stuff but I've become a bit of a softy for them lately! 🤣
@sharearea I like the pre-code ones, too, because there's this kind of over-ridding social norms -- and breaking those social norms -- is what gets you the "bad" ending in a romance comic.
Romance comics tell so much more about how society was "supposed" to function back in the pre-code days then the early super hero or horror comics!

Those are awesome! Way back when I had to purchase comics at a local convenience store I would occasionally pick up the random romance comic with my allowance. This usually occurred when none of my usual DC or Marvel issues were available. The stories were always so over-the-top. Ironic coming from someone who also loved super-heroes.

..I blame my mom for making me watch The Young and The Restless #soapopera when I was a kid!
...I know a lot more about Victor, Nicki, John, Jack, and Cricket than I should... 🤣
