Ste CookThinking back to the summer heatwave in the UK when everyone was “Our houses aren’t built for the heat, they’re designed to keep warm in winter”, and now everyone is “Our houses aren’t built for this cold”. Maybe time to admit that the UK has just been building homes for 100 years that are shit at *everything* aside from extracting rent from the poor.
Pete@Polypompholyx I'm not disagreeing, but it's also possible that some peoples houses are too hot, other people's houses too cold, and both groups complain.
@pete Insulation works both ways, so there's a fair amount of cross-over I think. I've lived in 12 places in the last 25 years, and not one of them was adequately insulated. Most of them were at least two of {too hot in summer, too cold in winter, too noisy all the time, damp, badly ventilated, full of indoor wildlife}, and in all but 2 of them, I was paying some other ****'s mortgage for the 'privilege' of being uncomfortable.
