I read recently that extra loos were installed at Westminster Abbey for the coronation of Elizabeth II because of the number of ancient, weak-bladdered peers attending. There were fears in the chain of command that a sudden rush to flush might drown out the service, so BBC technicians with decibel meters were called in while Guards from nearby Wellington Barracks were detailed to do the flushing to order.
