Tanquist@bbcmicrobot Please tell me what a bot is on Mastodon. I asked here a few days ago and no one replied. I thought bots were bad. I tried a web search but all I found were instructions about how to create a bot, and they don't even explain what a bot is. Why should I boost or follow a bot?

Bad bots tend to pretend to be humans.
Good bots tend to be clear that they are automated accounts.
This is a good bot, but you don’t need to follow or boost it if it’s not of interest to you
