Lol. Musk is seeing the exodus, so he's trying to bar the doors as everyone rushes for the exits.

Such free speech.

@mmasnick The cultists rushing to defend this will be gross
@Popehat @mmasnick I never understood Musk Fanboys.

@Bethany @Popehat @mmasnick

I can admit I WAS a Musk fanboy as recently as 2019, but I have the grace to admit I was wrong. I do think his rise to stratospheric wealth and power is contributing to his downfall. Nobody can tell him 'NO' anymore.

@Bamfurlough @Popehat @mmasnick He grew up in South Africa in a wealthy family. His father owned an emerald mine. He came to America for school and flunked out. Stayed illegally. He joined Tesla and pushed out the owners. Took government subsidies to hire the best to develop cars. Same with Starlink. He’s the perfect example of a mediocre white man who failed up

@Bethany @Popehat @mmasnick

To be fair he actually graduated with two degrees (Econ and Physics) from the University of Pennsylvania and was accepted at Stanford to study for a PhD in Physics, but left after only two days to focus on entrepreneurship.

I'm happy to rip Elon to shreds these days, but at least criticize him accurately.

@Bamfurlough @Bethany @Popehat @mmasnick I suggest you read the research posted by Capitol Hunters on twitter on musks illegitimate claims to degrees. Don’t be duped by stories and PR work around his BS claims on qualifications. https://twitter.com/capitolhunters/status/1593307541932474368?s=61&t=2iHyHdv4z_FdowpNh-CcMg

Someone has to say it: Elon Musk has lied for 27 years about his credentials. He does not have a BS in Physics, or any technical field. Did not get into a PhD program. Dropped out in 1995 & was illegal. Later, investors quietly arranged a diploma - but not in science. 🧵1/

That thread was interesting. I don't find the degree and immigration stuff particularly compelling though. He was definitely at Penn and I find the American immigration system appalling. If he found a loophole to stay in America, good for him.

I'm more interested in his connection to Thiel, and that being potential motivation to buy Twitter, as well as being friendly with Медведев.

This article gives plenty of detail regarding his time at Penn.

Former classmates, girlfriend of Elon Musk reflect on his time at Penn

The Daily Pennsylvanian spoke to several of Musk’s former classmates to learn more about his time at Penn, his budding entrepreneurial spirit, and his present successes.

@OrcFella @Bethany

Given how cruel and unjust the US immigration system is, I have no interest in using it to deport somebody. Even somebody as reprehensible as Space Karen.

Frankly, I hope more immigrants find ways to stay.

@Bamfurlough @Bethany The concern isn’t about immigration. This issue is a simple matter at law. The act of intentional dishonesty is a leading indicator of risk. You have a right to believe Musk and you are entitled to celebrate this behaviour and ignore his dishonesty, just as Maga supporters are willing to argue that Trump is innocent of dishonesty. It’s my right to call out unconscionable behaviour as a means to an end. Thats democracy for you.
@Bamfurlough @OrcFella You can attend a school and not graduate. It’s ok to admit and accept he’s a mediocre, wealthy white boy who failed up.

@Bethany

He did graduate though. The school issued a diploma and everything. Claiming otherwise makes you look bad. If you're ok with that, carry on I guess. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
