The best way to keep customers is by making it easy to leave. It builds trust. The problem ppl are solving is "I don't want to lose connections when Twitter collapses." The solution is to convince us that Twitter isn't collapsing. Desperate policies like this do the opposite.
@allenholub nothing says "The end is nigh" more than forcing people to stay
@allenholub i wasn't confident that there was a problem until todays. Because why else would they take such an extreme decision?
@allenholub That is confusing. The people promoting their content in other places are very likely driving a huge amount of engagement on the platform. How long before he just picks up his ball and goes home? Place will a literal ghost town with bots promoting each other by then.

Eternal optimist that I am, I'm hoping that the man-boy will see something shinier sooner than later and turn the place over to adults. Tesla stock has lost half its value since his Twitter acquisition exposed the toddler behind the curtain, tho, so my fear is that he won't give it up because, if he makes good on his debts, his net worth will be way below what his ego can support afterward.
@allenholub Funny, I was just reading another thread about ego in software development. It seems the man-boy is serving to raise important concerns to the surface. I'm thinking the shortest path to him turning it over to adults is to ignore it completely. I suspect we are entering a new phase of the internet and the bird site is about to join Yahoo.
