For a little perspective... Before /this/ Twitter migration started we did between 3 and 5 million background jobs per day(all actions from the network, follows, posts, boosts etc)

And when the migration started we soon did 40 million per day! The record is from 2 days ago on 55.6 million. We do now over the 50 million per day

That's quite some servers working to process it all

@theepdinker @stux already donated, but is there anything else users can do to help with scaling?
@stux is there a way to help support the cost of the servers?
@backwardation yes most servers accept donations. for masto.ai see https://masto.ai/about for Patreon, Ko-fi etc.

@stux
Wow! We appreciate you & thank you for all your hard work.๐Ÿ’•

@stux I wonder if it would be possible to script dynamically adding/removing servers to process the queue as needed.

At the point โ€œthe cloudโ€ might make sense

@stux

I wonder, does Mastodon scale well? My small instance is limited at 2 users on a RaspberryPI (and on Pleroma to be light) so I wonder for big one if Mastodon can be scaled easily enough so you can just "throw" more servers power (CPU / Bandwidth / storage) at it
