The thing that's going to fuck Twitter with that new policy on linking is not blocking Mastodon links.
It's blocking Insta.
Politics Twitter is shouty but not actually the bulk of the platform.
That's celebs and lifestyle. And that stuff is pure insta crossover territory.
@garius counterpoint, most Influencers (not celebrities, but just influencers) I know are not on Twitter or barely have a presence.
The reason being Twitter click through rate for lifestyle is pretty low, because Twitter is designed for conversation. Most influencers don’t want a dialogue. They just want to share something and get the click through.
Celebrities are a different story. But they’re already leaving…
