However, links to Vkontakte, Telegram, Truth Social, Parler, and TikTok all worked as of this writing.

@davetroy enforcement seems a bit spotty. My own links from Twitter to Mastodon and Post still work too. My guess is only a fraction of the offending links have been caught .. yet.
For a month now, Musk has been begging Trump to please, please with Splenda® on top come back to his reinstated Twitter account, thus far to no avail. Would be fun if Trump did come back just once, to plug Truth Social and see how long that stayed up.

Yes. Mastodon is feeling a bit like PBS for sure. I'd compare it more to the 1980s PBS.
I'd like it if it moved towards a more modern Democracy Now PBS style.
