It would be real nice if Mastodon didn’t call the same thing two different names, there’s Boost and Reblog, different between web and app.
@gamingonlinux Abstraction leaking through into app UI? I know it's called "reblog" in ActivityPub, so I wonder if it's just a case of whoever designs the Mastodon app not knowing enough of the design choices
@gamingonlinux And it's not even a GnuSocial heritage as over there it's called repeat.
@gamingonlinux not to mention third party apps.
@gamingonlinux John Mastodon doesn't want to get backlash for changing established things but wants a less fun twitter-like experience for Mastodon, so when he had an opportunity to help design a UI from scratch he changed lots of things and made them inconsistent basically
@gamingonlinux Yes, my dude. I keep thinking this!

@gamingonlinux

does Mastodon realy have any influence on the 3rd party tools implementing it ?
🤔 wouldn't wonder if a twitter like client with the same naming conventions could "kinda" work too 🤣

@gamingonlinux Some servers also renamed some things on their instances.

Everyone's saying the official app is jank, and recommend using third-party apps instead. Like Tusky.

@gamingonlinux Which app? Which web client?
@gamingonlinux also being able to view likes (without having to click into a 'toot') would be a nice addition
@gamingonlinux What's the difference between the two? I always thought they were just different words for the same action.
@gamingonlinux ux is hard? I agree with you on this.
@gamingonlinux Instances (maybe because mastodon version, maybe because configuration) having different names for the same thing also seem to exist - this account and my ( @cazfi ) private account have slightly different UI.
@freeciv @cazfi @gamingonlinux please do not forget that #mastodon is just _one_ of the many available ways to acces the greater #fediverse.....

There is #friendica #diaspora* #pixelfed #funkwhale #peertube #misskey and ah so many more....
