Then there is this banality, quoting The Times:

<Mr. Licht said he used the analogy to make clear that a less-partisan CNN did not mean it was any less committed to truth. “This wasn’t to plot a new course but to assure people we would not let up one inch in being truth tellers,” he said. “The change is we will not do Trump 24/7 or let him dictate our agenda.”
By all accounts, Mr. Licht’s presentation was warmly received by directors, including Mr. Malone.>

@jeffjarvis I listened to Kara Swisher’s long interview with Licht a couple of weeks ago. I can’t imagine there’s anything new or interesting here.

CNN was never non-partisan. It in fact was the go to network for leaking CIA propaganda. Also it never met a US war it wouldn't promote.
If it drifts even further it is just returning to its roots.

@jeffjarvis Since the git-go, they always had way too many doltish R obstructionists on to 'balance' their 'panels,' turning them into all heat & no light, the 'news' as the Jerry Springer Show. And Anderson Cooper kept trotting out MAGA Kushnermom all the time, FFS! Left that cesspool behind long ago.

@jeffjarvis That neither Brian Stelter nor John Malone appeared in this story is... odd.

Chris Licht is frustrated that he keeps getting accused of "shifting to the right," or "centrism," but here's the problem.

We live in a two party system and one of those two parties is held together by hatred for the news media, and the freedom from fact that this resentment justifies.

I have never heard Licht utter an intelligible word about that situation. Instead he complains about being misunderstood.
