At most, πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ has just two more years of Conservative party misrule.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ is barely recognisable from 12 years ago. We are less free. Our rights eroded, our democracy degraded. Nothing works. We are far poorer. We have the highest taxes and worst public services. Millions go cold and hungry every day while food rots in fields. Obscene corruption on a massive scale is hidden from view by billionaire-owned media.

Now this πŸ‘‡ . No words. 😑

@cnapan I wish I shared your optimism.Sure, the Tories have been getting hammered in the opinion polls recently, but they have 2 years to turn that around, and their ongoing efforts of voter suppression plus FPTP give them a massive advantage. I would not rule out the Tories winning the next election.

@statsguy

They can only turn it around by fixing everything. That's not going to happen

My worry is that things are so bad labour will be hobbled when they get in

@cnapan

@noonjinx @cnapan Agreed that they're not going to fix everything. But I'm not sure that's the only way they can turn it around. They can get their mates in the media to tell everyone they've turned it around.

And I'm sure you're right that if Labour get in, they will have an impossible task to fix everything in one Parliament. My worry is that they know that and only campaign to win the election half-heartedly.

@noonjinx @statsguy @cnapan that's not quite true. They could possibly turn it around by quarter-fixing and painting over any one of the issues there are and doing good PR on it. If Brexit was possible, I won't be surprised at the πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ public en large believing anything.

In any case, Labour trying to appease part of the conservative audience, has a chimeric party line and policy. Though I'd love to see that transition to renewables to get going... ❀️

@cnapan I will never get used to the fact that there is a levelling up secretary. That’s so idiocracy. Who came up with this? (but it fits that it would be him doing it. β€˜Water? You mean like from the toilet?’)

@h2500 It was Boris Johnson who came up with this phrase. It characterises his period in power - trite slogans hiding their plunder of the public purse. During his time, inequality between North and South, Rich and Poor, got far worse. 'Levelling down' in fact.

I was never a conservative, but when Johnson used Brexit to take control of that party, it destroyed it. They just don't want to admit it yet.

@cnapan They’ve completely destroyed everything that was halfway decent about the UK. And I’m not complacent about there even being another GE.
@SoggyMoggy50 I agree, but I think they have concentrated far more on enrichment, and though they hoped to gerrymander their way to a new victory, their attempts to turn the UK into a post-democracy have, so far, been half baked. Given the intense pain now being felt across the country as a result of their misrule, with many tory MPs declaring they won't stand, with a moribund unelected PM who is the wrong colour for many of their voters... It's game over I think. (But still.... 🀞 )
@cnapan You could well be right, there. I certainly hope so!

@cnapan Isengard.

Needs an enormous flood.

@cnapan Enough is enough!!!
