Hello #Kolektiva! We just introduced a new translations feature. 🤩

You should now see a clickable "Translate" link on posts that are translatable.

All translations are done locally (on our server) through the 100% Open Source Machine Translation API LibreTranslate: https://github.com/LibreTranslate/LibreTranslate

This feature is *beta*, which means not every language is available and sometimes a translation may fail, or may be of questionable quality.

We're excited about this, happy tooting!

PS: It's a little resource intensive, so it may take a moment.

This is great, thanks admin at al 👍

A question: is there a way for the ordinary user to engage with feature proposals?

Another user suggested some basic details of new followers in notifications would be a help - I tried GitHub but couldn't find anything. I can see the benefits.

@Irreverent_B For Mastodon in general GitHub would be best. For Kolektiva, for now, feel free to send a note to me. When we formalize our communication process we'll update kolektiva.info and I'll make an announcement. Thanks!
@admin
Thx. I'll look deeper on GitHub or raise it in Discord 🙏
@admin I've noticed that it also tries to translate user handles, which can lead to some unexpected results sometimes. I'm not sure if this is desired behaviour, and if this is a bug, where it should be reported.
@admin you read my mind! Thank you!
@admin nice. Hope it spreads to our server.
