@cardamomaddict @BrentButt not quite. You could register @BrentButt on mstdn.ca if you wanted. They are completely different and independent accounts. This is why the short version doesn't even highlight on my post, but the long form I used first does.

This is why having verified links in your bio is important. They are the core of trust on the #fediverse. Only the real Brent can have a verified link to their own website since it requires editing the site to have the verified mark.

@kawazoe @BrentButt Thank you :) When I typed in @brentbutt@... it seems Masto automatically shortened it to just the @ and his name. I think it may be because I follow him. I didn't catch it when I hit publish.
