The most effective way to have people move out of their political position is to create a ‘permission structure’. Republicans saying they were leaving the Republican Party in 2020 and voting for Democrats gave other people on the fence ‘permission’ to join them.
The same is true with leaving #twitter. After the #twitterpurge people are looking to leave. Encourage them. Tell them there’s a better place. Let them know you’re leaving. Give them ‘permission’. Let them know they won’t be alone.
@mikemadrid and return there occasionally not only to tell them "Come on over, the water's fine", but also to tell them How. Example: https://campaign.openworlds.info/@mathew/109528350123942122

Tentatively returning to Twitter after some weeks of Quiet Quitting ("Qwitting"?), and mildly concerned that my main motive is rubbernecking Elon Musk's not-so-slow trainwreck ("rubbawreck"?). So I'm tweeting useful resources for adopting #Mastodon. If you'd like your followers there to see it, here's today's: https://twitter.com/mathewlowry/status/1604046085219143681 I realise this reads like a crappy attempt to get more Twitter followers, but tbh I'm simply past caring about follower counts here or there.
