Calling it "pure and deadly greed" and "unseemly profiteering", Senator Warren and Senator-elect Peter Welch sent scathing letter to #Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla over company's plan to increase price of its #COVID-19 vaccines by 400% next year to $110-130 per dose. That 's a whopping 10,000% markup from the vaccine's estimated manufacturing cost.

@elstorreele And #Pfizer CEO tears letter up unread. This is why you don't look to #corporations to solve the world's problems. Corporations are driven by one thing, and that is money.
@ablackcatstail True, which is why they need to be regulated to better work in the public interest. What's the point of having a pharma industry if the work contrary to public health? We could for instance put conditions to the public funds and tax benefits they get, and limit the terms of patent monopolies (which are policy tools meant to serve the public interest, not for private greed!), etc.
@elstorreele The barriers to doing this are the people with the money, power, and outsized influence. They silence all of our voices.
