If Mastodon diehards want this to be The Next Place after Twitter, the move is to bend over backwards to listen to disabled and Black community about what they do and don't need in social media space.

Even if it's challenging.

Even if it makes you uncomfortable.

These are power user communities, whether folks like it or not.

@gwensnyder not sure what its going to take to get people to realize that there is no coherent group that's out trying to make mastodon "The Next Place after Twitter", but yelling at strangers on a platform you just discovered isn't going to help you anyway. Take this kind of attitude back to twitter, where you were correctly ridiculed for how tendentious and loudly wrong you were, often, about seemingly everyone on the left. And before you try to label me a chapo (or whatever) know that I am not, and don't care in the least for them or their dogshit fan base, I just can't stand people like you digitally barking at everyone unfortunate enough to see your posts. You slandered quite a few decent hard working socialist, for years now, to come here and then try and dictate terms and I for one am not going to listen to it quietly.
@count3rmeasure @gwensnyder Like, who is she "yelling" and "barking" at? She published a post to her followers. It's fine if you disagree with her, but that whole "go back to..." has some ugly connotations, particularly for people of color. She has a right to be here and share her thoughts just as much as you do, so just mute her if you don't want to hear from her.
@Meme she isn't a person of color though, and the constant slippage between that and white people who want ventriloquize on behalf of people of color is exactly the point. She can mute away at her hearts content as well, fwiw. And finally, the reason I took the time to comment, and am leaving that comment up is because she lied and slandered quite a few serious activists and socialists on twitter, for years, because they simply didn't share her increasingly unhinged opinions. She is welcome to say what she wants, and...wait for it...so am I. She can get the push back for lying about people for years...and I can get people like you to invoke invisible POCs as a talisman to scare away legitimate critique of her and words (and actions). She is not the only person to have been hunted by fascists, she is not the only person to have done life threatening antifascist work. Maybe take some time to educate yourself about the person you're jumping to defend.
@count3rmeasure Well *I* am a woman of color, and I feel "go back to" is a shameful and all-too-convenient response from those in the majority. Clearly your issues with her predate her post, and that's like fine, I guess. You can criticize her, and I can defend her right to say what she said in that post as something other than "yelling" and "barking" and also defend her right NOT to "go back to" the bird site. Pretty simple.
