My mastodon link at my pinned tweet on Twitter is now warning anyone who clicks on it that the sight may be “unsafe.”
You know what actually feels unsafe right now? Musk on Twitter.
@georgetakei
i'm speechless, how can today's society stand this behaviour and that... guy, aren't there any laws to regulate this? a new low for 🐦
@maop @georgetakei It's a private company. They can set their own community guidelines and terms of service. The government has no right to tell them how to run their operation. Society can choose to use the platform or not.

@SamWolk

Yes, but also no, private companies can't have full control, they have to obey fundamental laws, also there is regulatory laws like the antitrust ones. Bottom line companies do follow laws too.

@maop The exceptions you're invoking don't apply, so it's not clear what you're trying to say. A social media platform is opt-in. Birdsite doesn't own a monopoly on the industry. What fundamental laws are they breaking?
@SamWolk @maop I don’t know about “fundamental” but Mush certainly ran into trouble with the SEC. FTC anti-competitive charges and violation of the privacy consent decree are conceivable. Words matter.
@andrewd @maop Fair point
@SamWolk @maop errata: i think I meant to write “Musk,” but Mush works ok , right? ;)
@andrewd @maop Describes his personality perfectly
