I often use my dad, a man who buys the Times every day, as a barometer of how well the culture war lines are landing with the average reader, and I am thrilled to report that despite years of hysterical fascist articles, he still literally hasn't noticed any of it because he just skims past anything which seems aggro about nothing.
@stavvers My favourite barometer of the irrelevance of most of the "discourse" to most people is still the absolute shoeing Lawrence Fox got when he ran for London Mayor. Clearly most people in London were not remotely interested in, and had probably not even heard of, the bleatings of a professional online opinion-haver and shit stirrer.
@beecycling that was spectacular, just literally nobody caring!
@stavvers I only wish it had made him reflect on how he was wasting his life and maybe he should go and try to get his acting career back on track. But no. They never have a moment of doubt, these people.
