Musk has a trick up his sleeve: by declaring a personal security threat, he is able to block nearly all mastodon instances because each instance will mirror @[email protected] if a user on that instance follows the account.

Musk's trick: Is it about safety, or blocking a competitor? Every mastodon instance w/a user following @[email protected] has a mirror copy of that feed at a URL. For me at techhub.social the URL is: https://techhub.social/@[email protected] If you are not logged in, that redirects to: https://mastodon.social/@elonjet Thus, the "assassination threat" gives Elon an excuse to block almost every mastodon instance since every mastodon instance likely had a user following ElonJet. @[email protected] @[email protected]
