OK. I'm still learning stuff on Mastodon. People keep saying "use alt text". Being the techy luddite that I am, I had no idea what this is or how and why. So, I googled it (as you do).

If all this is baffling for you, like it is for me, here's a good article that explains it in easily understood terms (unlike some other stuff I read!)

Hope this helps!

(And many thanks to people who spend time writing helpful articles like this one!!)

EdTech Factotum
@Thatmouthywoman Yup it baffled me too, folks really have to understand telling people to use something when they have no idea what it is, won’t really have the desired effect.
Now how about CamelCase? That’s another one that should be explained because it helps blind folks if it’s used but most will just tune out if the post doesn’t explain what it is
@voron I just had to Google "camel case". Yep, I'm that much of a luddite! The good thing is, though, because I'm also a pedant, I've always used capital letters in hashtags to distinguish words because otherwise, sometimes they're so impossible to understand even without visual impairment! But you're right. It would be good to have more discussions about these things.
@Thatmouthywoman thanks for sharing this article. I’ve wondered about the same thing for a while now but unlike you, I was too lazy to google it.
