@jentaub On what is (probably) a final note, while my understanding is that Mastodon was founded in part by and for people who are #queer and #lgbtq, they and the culture they established are or are in danger of being sidelined. Perhaps we have to think about both preservation and reformation as Mastodon continues to grow, I hope.
@billday @jentaub I see it as being a part of a greater whole, which is the goal everywhere. Your orientation should not be who you are as a person, it should simply be and largely ignored like cys/hetero people are.
@vindictus @billday @jentaub - When LGBTQ+ folks have full legal equality, then we can 'ignore' our orientation. Not before. Cis/heteronormativity certainly chooses to ignore us. Don't be part of that. Affirm our presence!
@drewherzig @billday @jentaub You are misreading what I said, there is not a fight everywhere you look. Nobody is ignoring your needs, I said you SHOULD not have your identity be who you are, the person is what matters. Don't be that person always looking to fight people on your side.
@vindictus @billday @jentaub I'm sorry you don't see it, but there it is. Try substituting race or religion in place of orientation, and see how it sounds. "Your race should simply be and largely ignored"...? You can see that doesn't work.
