I'm still furious about this. I assure you that the FBI still has agents investigating crimes against children. You know what institution has, according to all reports, significantly undermined its ability to counter sexual violence against kids in the last few months? It's Twitter!!!

@qjurecic the fact that they are surprised by this shows how artful Taibbi et al have become with their self deception. Of course the FBI monitors tweets, facebook posts, the whole shebang, it’s part of the mission statement of the FBI to protect civil rights, as there are forms of speech which the Supreme Court has ruled are not protected by the Constitution - see Imminent lawlessness test established by Brandenburg v. Ohio (1969) decision. Tweets weren’t overtly marked satire!
