Based on https://globe.adsbexchange.com/?icao=a835af&lat=34.178&lon=-119.169&zoom=9.5&showTrace=2022-12-13&timestamp=1670902710, Elon's jet has a PIA hex code (which obfuscates its identity) but was using its tail number (which reveals its identity) for a call sign? Am I misreading this?
ADS-B Exchange - track aircraft live

ADS-B Exchange - track aircraft live - aircraft flight history

In that case the argument that non-public data was required to track its flight (in this case, at least) is just patently untrue?
Is this all just ludicrously stupid?
@mjg59 every single commercial aircraft (in the civilized world?) literally has a transponder which transmits its tail number and gps and direction vector. In all controlled airspace it must be on and reporting.
I keep waiting for someone to say this.
Every jet LITERALLY has a real time tracker on it.
@n00b The FAA allows for you to be issued "Privacy ICAO Addresses" which can be changed up to every 20 days (only for use within the US, though)
@n00b So in that case, unless you use the tail number as the call sign, the linkage between the ADS-B broadcasts and the tail numbers is somewhat obfuscated
@mjg59 sure. A smart person would have filed a PIA.
Instead of doing a thing properly, he banned a guy, and every other guy who talked about said guy.
Elon shows us he is dumb at every opportunity.
@mjg59 @n00b
Until someone notices the correspondence of physical jet and fake number, and remarks on it.
@n00b @mjg59 why let a pesky thing like the truth get in the way of your narrative to hamper free speech?
