I think about CWs kind of like email subject lines. It’s a helpful tool for people who don’t have time to scroll past every post, or want to sort and filter what they see, for a bajillion reasons some of which I don’t even know about. I quite like CWs. Feels a bit like Usenet.
@emmadavidson I think ideally the concerns of "subject lines" and actual content warnings for triggering stuff could be separated out to make the experience on the reader side more configurable

To be honest I think calling them warnings was the mistake. If it was just a flag for the topic of a post they'd be less controversial, still useful for filtering content you don't want to see, and also useful as something like a hashtag for locating posts on specific topics.
