Public Service Warning

Mastodon has a very big surge of new users right now. There's no way to tell if it will be sustained, but at this early point it looks similar to Nov 18 when Musk pulled the employee purge.

It is very challenging for system administration to accommodate so many new users. If your server starts to struggle, it is not broken and will get sorted out.

We're all in this together. It's our social network. Be patient. What we are building is amazing.

@mastodonmigration it will be sustained, any overflow send to opalstack.social
@d3cline @mastodonmigration Is the your Mastodon hosting managed, as in, does Opelstack take care of the Mastodon installation, upgrades, etc.?
@john @mastodonmigration For our main instance yes, for private instances we would have our support team available for any assistance if you needed it. Both are available.

@d3cline @mastodonmigration

That's a good product to have, but I think fully managed is really what's needed. I think you have a lot of people out there that probably know how to organise a community, but will be completely put-off by the tech stuff.

Heck, I can programme and still went with fully managed hosting.

Masto.host has a great product in this way, but are full!

@john @mastodonmigration Well the OS is fully managed, and we do much of the work, we have a one click installer. Really the key difference is we will help if asked on a private instance in your own account, and we just do everything for https://opalstack.social this is how we provide postgres, mariadb, ngxinx, and many other FOSS projects. So it was a natural progression to mastodon. I would suggest you check out our 14 day trial to see how the platform is. I am happy to answer any thing else.

For professionals and brands. Focus on your market, not administration.

Mastodon hosted on opalstack.social

@d3cline @mastodonmigration Hey, yeah, sorry, this isn't for me, I have a managed server I'm happy with.

I'm just imagining the people drifting around right now, who have no idea what anything you just said means, who might start their own Mastodon communities.

@john @mastodonmigration thanks for the feedback, it helps me know the market.

@d3cline @mastodonmigration Yeah, I don't mean to be telling you your business, as I don't really know how viable it is for you, obviously. But I like to see hosting companies in this space.

There are people I have had conversations with that I would have directed to masto.host, with their fully managed hosting, but I can't anymore because they're full. I did sees a couple setup before the deluge, so the market is there.

@john @mastodonmigration I appreciate it i really do, I followed you so I can keep an eye on your admin journey. And we may still be a viable option for some people, our scope of support is the most extensive in the industry. (I am willing to provide you support on another platform even) please keep us in mind.
