@MartinLewis they really don’t make this easy to claim though. I claimed for my Mum and it took months to get it and the paperwork was a real pain. Government departments are so poor when it comes to anything like this!
@MartinLewis some are working. You know that any money one earns by working is removed from the benefits. I spoke with one gent who’d been retrospectively fined £11,000 because he’d received a small hourly increase in wages that was not communicated to the authorities when he was receiving working credits. I think the chap might have been illiterate. His wife seemed to do the form filling, but she now has dementia. These people have reasons for not claiming. Nobody is listening.
