Statement from Washington Post Executive Editor Sally Buzbee:

NYT's statement:

"Tonight’s suspension of the Twitter accounts of a number of prominent journalists, including The New York Times’s Ryan Mac, is questionable and unfortunate. Neither The Times nor Ryan have received any explanation about why this occurred. We hope that all of the journalists’ accounts are reinstated and that Twitter provides a satisfying explanation for this action."

Leave Twitter.

I'd love to see some major global news organisations come over to mastodon, but for the moment it seems to be smaller organisations such as the @BylinesNetwork that are forming the news reporting vanguard overhere which leaves me wondering if those moving to mastodon from the other site will end up altering how they monitor and perceive news and current affairs?

@happy @craigslytle @drewharwell @CNN @BylinesNetwork I initially joined Twitter to follow journalists I trusted rather than signing up to loads of different publications when most of their content (sport, lifestyle, beauty etc) is of little interest. It's disappointing how few of them have moved here, and how little those who have moved actually post. Maybe it'll pick up as Twitter declines.
