Listening to the Twitter Space where Musk buddy Jason Calacanis is defending the removal of journalist accounts (to many of the journalists who were removed, who somehow can still join the space).

And he's RAGING about personal danger, and insisting this is something totally new (it's not).

Um. Also this was the same debate about Jan 6 / Trump decision. That Musk & friends mocked & insisted was unfair.

Jason saying "if you've been on the other side of this" (meaning stalked) "your position will change immediately."

How is he then NOT CONNECTING THIS to how trust & safety has worked at Twitter going back years?

For what it's worth, I get kicked out of the Twitter Space every 2 minutes or so and have to rejoin.
Oh great. Elon's in the Space now too. This will be fun.
Elon claims that linking to ElonJet is "ban evasion." Which is... quite a ridiculous interpretation of "ban evasion."
Sorry, it's tough for me to follow this because I get dropped from the Space every 2 minutes or so. And it looks like Elon also just got dropped.

So... I kept getting removed from the Space, and after Elon left it was just reporters discussing and not much to report... but now the Space is dead... even though people were still talking...

So now we have to wonder, did Elon just pull the plug on the space?

@mmasnick
You can see/hear the spaces conversation here. His ban evasion argument wasn’t cutting it so he left when pressed.

“Holy Shit. Elon Musk just popped into a Twitter Spaces chat with a bunch of journalists. He was called out by journalist Drew Harrell, who he banned, for lying about posting links to his private information, then leaves almost immediately after being pressed. Here is the exchange”

@dhaimes @mmasnick My connection was fine, and I thought they were all having such a good conversation, even while Elon spoke. I was not listening when he left but came back to hear a continuing conversation with Elonjet articulating his concerns in light of the changing landscape and what Elon said, and then poof it all cut off.

TBH by then there was a bit of rehashing of previous statements going on by then, but I think a lot of the basic concepts and concerns were spelled out pretty clearly.
