Not that this means anything at all, but I just surpassed 50% of the number of followers I had on Twitter over here. Yet, people keep trying to tell me on the other site that no one is here.

(And, yes, follower count is a silly thing, and does not actually matter, just noting the milestone).

And, again, the conversations I'm having here are so much better.

@mmasnick Counter: 4% of my followers are on here, and conversation is nonexistent.

On the other hand, my experience with Twitter is no different now than it was six months ago.

It really depends what your network is centred around. I use it mostly for sports, so the league and team accounts are big. You're in tech, which strikes me as a demographic much more likely to move here (or even know here exists).

I'd love to move, but right now I'm crossposting all my tweets and getting almost zero engagement on here vs a much more active Twitter.

@koberulz Yeah, definitely true that it works better in certain communities. Most of the infosec crowd has moved over here now. Plus a lot of tech reporting. Sports is still definitely on the other site.

@mmasnick Honestly the only reason I followed you on here was so my feed had *something*, otherwise it was completely empty. Over the other side I found @Popehat's retweets of your content sufficient for my interest level. With him here as well now, it's at least starting to build to something worth using. But it does mean juggling two apps.

I am glad it seems to have cohered around here though. Early on there was a split between here and CounterSocial, then Post started picking up steam...

Tagging people in mid sentence really is much less neat on here, huh?

@koberulz @Popehat It definitely helps to follow a few accounts here that post a lot to begin to get into the flow of using it.
@mmasnick My biggest complaint so far is there's no scroll bar or "xxx unread tweets" type indication to tell me how far from the top of my feed I am, along with the fact that it only loads the most recent X tweets when I refresh and forces me to manually load more then scroll back down to where I was...which is almost impossible given the lack of scroll bar or "xxx unread tweets" indicator.
@mmasnick I'm sure this is app specific, though. Took me a while to find Talon for Twitter, no real idea what's out there for Mastodon but currently on Tusky as it seemed the most recommended.
